Important Amendments to be Introduced to Jobs Bill HR 4213

Missouri, Nevada and Virginia AEA Members Should Take Action!

Senators Baucus, Casey and Sherrod Brown plan to offer amendments to HR 4213, now awaiting a vote by the Senate. These amendments will ensure the final bill includes funding relief for both single and multiemployer defined benefit pension plans (like Equity's) and restore the COBRA subsidy for laid off workers through November. Without it, workers who lose their jobs after June 1 don't qualify for help with their COBRA premiums.

The actions of the Senators listed below could determine the inclusion or exclusion of these amendments. They need to hear from you!

What You Can Do

Take a moment to call or fax your Senator and tell them that Congress must act now to protect workers. Use the talking points below or say it in your own words:

As your constituent I am calling/writing to urge you to support the substitute amendments being offered by Senators Baucus, Casey and Brown to the House-passed American Jobs and Closing Tax Loopholes act of 2010 (HR4213). These substitutes, which include critical fiscal relief for states and employers and extend federal unemployment and COBRA benefits are desperately needed to relieve suffering, create and save over a million jobs and avoid a worsening recession.

Thank you for your public service.
