Performers for the Cure Help Fight Breast Cancer Sunday, September 12, 2010 Join Us ! Team Register by August 31st For the sixteenth consecutive year, a team of performers and their friends, including Equity, AFTRA and SAG members, will come together to run and walk in the Komen New York City Race for the Cure ® on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010. Last year, there were approximately 25,000 female and male participants in the Race, including over 1,600 survivors and their families. At last year's Race, the Performers team raised over $3,300. Altogether, more than $5.21 million was contributed to fund education, screening and treatment programs for underserved women in the tri-state metropolitan area and to support the national search for a cure. The Komen Foundation was established in 1982. It is an international organization with a network of volunteers working through local affiliates and Komen Race for the Cure® events to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease. The largest private source of breast cancer research funding in the United States, the Foundation has raised more than $1.5 billion since its inception.
