This workshop will focus on health care and health insurance options for musicians in the New York City area. The aim is to give those in our community a firm grounding in coverage basics, a comprehensive overview of options in our area, and a better ability to make health care coverage-related decisions. We’ll also review health care reform and how it affects you now and in the future. There will be a Q&A period at the end of the workshop. Renata Marinaro is a social worker and Manager of Health Services Education and Outreach at the Health Insurance Resource Center (HIRC) of The Actors Fund. HIRC connects artists, craftspeople and entertainers to health insurance and affordable health care.
AWP members will describe how volunteering has developed their skills, expanded networks and lead to meaningful paid sideline/parallel work. Guest speakers from volunteer resources in NYC will share info on ways to connect with a range of opportunities
