AEA's Centennial Countdown
Actors’ Equity Engages EventQuest,
Renowned Design/Marketing Agency
To Envision and Produce AEA’s Centennial in 2013
Centennial Update
Plans for Equity's Centennial celebration in 2012-2013 are moving ahead in an orderly fashion with the recent approval of a 100th Anniversary logo and out reach to theater notables to serve on a leadership Committee of 100. Recent additions to the list include Billy Crystal, Chita Rivera, Liza Minnelli, Whoopi Goldberg, Betty Buckley and Jim Naughton. EventQuest, Equity's Centennial consultant, is translating the new logo into a style sheet which can be used in a variety of media placements that should enable us to brand the Centennial celebration with a high national profile.
In the meantime, EventQuest and the centennial Committee are engaged in detailed examinations of the key elements of the proposed celebration to fix costs and identify possible sponsors. Plans still call for a celebration in which Equity members and theater audiences across the country can participate, and which will enhance public knowledge and respect for the union and craft of professional theater.
Call To Action
In order to ensure that the Centennial is truly a national celebration involving the entire membership and associated organizations across the country, EventQuest has created a Call To Action form and email address to gather ideas and suggestions. These will be collected and discussed by the Centennial Committee in the coming months.
“We want to hear from the entire membership,” emphasized President Nick Wyman. “As a member-driven, democratic institution, every Equity member has a key play a role in this process. We have already received dozens of exciting suggestions and are looking for more.”
